EEAST is made up of exceptional people delivering outstanding care, every hour of every day. Whether it’s on the frontline or behind the scenes, no two days are ever the same and every role helps save lives.
A rewarding and fast-paced environment
Working at EEAST gives you the chance to support your community, provide life-saving care and help people through their darkest moments. It’s a busy, dynamic environment that brings fresh challenges every day.
Working in the east of England
Our Trust provides emergency and non-emergency care to patients in the east of England covering the six counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
You get to work in one of the most diverse areas of the country; the bustling capital city is on our doorstep and the bracing North Sea envelopes our shores to the east.
We've got historical cathedral towns and cities, brand new communities, rural broadlands and some of the busiest arteries of road and rail networks, including the M25, A14, M1, M11 and A12, and railway lines from London Liverpool Street out to Cambridge, Norwich, Peterborough, Colchester and Southend.
Wherever you go in the east of England there is always something to see and do; but if travelling around the UK and beyond is a must for you as well, the Luton, Stansted, Norwich and Southend airports couldn't make it more easier to stay in touch with loved ones or send you on a deserved holiday or short break.

Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. I am very pleased that you are considering this opportunity to join us at such an important point in our journey.
EEAST serves a diverse population of around 6.2 million people across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Every day, our colleagues respond to urgent and often life changing situations, providing emergency and urgent care and patient transport across communities that range from busy urban centres to remote rural and coastal areas. Our more than 5,000 staff and 1,200 volunteers demonstrate extraordinary commitment and professionalism in what can be demanding circumstances. It is a privilege to work alongside them.
We have set a clear and ambitious direction for the period 2025 to 2030. Our strategy focuses on delivering safe, high quality care, improving clinical outcomes, strengthening performance, supporting and developing our people, and ensuring that we are financially sustainable in a challenging environment. We are determined to build an organisation that our staff are proud to work for and that our communities can trust and rely upon.
The appointment of a new Chair is therefore significant. The Chair plays a central role in shaping our strategic direction, leading the Board and ensuring that we meet the highest standards of governance and accountability. The relationship between Chair and Chief Executive is critical. It is built on mutual respect, clarity of roles and a shared commitment to the Nolan Principles and NHS values. Together, we set the tone for the organisation and create the conditions in which the Board can provide effective support and constructive challenge.
Ambulance services nationally continue to face sustained demand, workforce pressures and financial constraint. Within this context, strong governance, clear strategic focus and a compassionate culture are essential. I am looking forward to working with a Chair who brings sound judgement, integrity and the confidence to ask the right questions, while always keeping patient safety, clinical quality and staff experience at the forefront of our decisions.
Partnership working is also fundamental to our success. We operate at the heart of integrated care systems across the East of England, and our relationships with Integrated Care Boards, NHS providers, local authorities and community partners are central to improving outcomes and reducing health inequalities. The Chair will represent EEAST across this landscape, helping to build trusted and collaborative relationships that benefit our patients and communities.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, both in the services we provide and within our workforce. A Board that reflects the communities we serve strengthens our decision making and our credibility. I warmly encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds, particularly those who are currently under represented at Board level.
This is a meaningful public leadership role in an organisation that makes a tangible difference every day. If you share our commitment to public service and believe you can help us realise our ambitions for the years ahead, I would be delighted to receive your application and to meet you during the process.
Yours sincerely
Neill Moloney
