Dear colleague,
Thank you for your interest in the Group Chief Executive role at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group).
This is a Group Model with scale, ambition and a clear sense of purpose. We operate across three statutory organisations within a group model, serving diverse communities across the Liverpool City Region and far beyond. With over 19,000 colleagues and a £1.8bn turnover, our impact is significant – but so too is our responsibility.
We are looking for a Chief Executive who sees this role not simply as running a large NHS organisation, but as leading a complex public service enterprise at a pivotal point in its evolution. Someone who can combine strategic clarity with operational grip; who understands the importance of culture and people alongside performance; and who is motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting difference to health, opportunity and equity.
The Board is ambitious for what the UHL Group can and should become. We are united in our commitment to outstanding care, strong governance and long-term sustainability, and we are equally committed to supporting a Chief Executive who will lead with confidence, integrity and authenticity.
Liverpool is a remarkable city – proud, resilient and forward looking. Its NHS should reflect those qualities. The Chief Executive we appoint will play a defining role in shaping the future of healthcare here, working with our staff, our partners and our communities.
If you are excited by complexity, inspired by purpose and motivated by impact, we very much hope you will consider putting yourself forward.
David Flory CBE
Group Chair
