Chief Medical Officer/Executive Director Medical Services

The Chief Medical Officer /Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) is responsible for the development of strategic policies and practice, as well as oversight of professional issues and legislative requirements for medical services across the Eye and Ear. The incumbent will have a key leadership responsibility within the Clinical Governance framework, and oversee the management of medico-legal issues. As a member of the Executive team, the CMO/EDMS will contribute to the wider organisational agenda in the strategic and operational management of the Eye and Ear. Other responsibilities include the leadership of the quality and improvement initiatives undertaken in the organisation, and innovation in clinical models of care.

The CMO/EDMS will be responsible for leading and coordinating an effective change program, with particular emphasis on fostering clinician engagement and leadership.

The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (the Eye and Ear) is Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital and has been providing care for the senses for more than 160 years.

The Eye and Ear operate more than 90 outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss, alongside a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service. Each year, we provide care for approximately 160,000 outpatients, 45,000 emergency patients and more than 16,000 inpatients.
