CHEO is recruiting a Division Chief and full-time pediatrician to actively lead clinical care, teaching, research and advocacy in the Division of Pediatric Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics. The Division of Pediatric Medicine has a particular focus on CHEO’s inpatient clinic teaching units, complex care, and vulnerable populations. There are active research programs within the Division and Department, a Royal College accredited training program in General Pediatrics and an Academic Pediatric Medicine fellowship program.

The Division of Pediatric Medicine is comprised of 23 committed and inspiring academic general pediatricians in hospitalist, complex care and outpatient consultant roles.  The group is extremely dedicated to excellence in patient care and academic activity. The division is heavily invested in important education and administrative leadership roles at the departmental, hospital, university, and national levels.

The Division Chief at CHEO oversees the safety and quality of care provided and the medical staff within the division. As such, the Division Chief has responsibility for medical staff leadership, and the Division’s academic activity. In collaboration with their administrative dyad, the Division Chief is responsible for operational resource oversite and for the ongoing evaluation, design and implementation of efficient clinical delivery processes and team models to provide excellence in care responsive to child health needs.

CHEO invites applications from candidates who have strong operational and academic leadership skills and a proven record of achievement in comprehensive patient care, clinical program development, education, research, and/or quality assurance. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa at a rank commensurate to their experience and academic contributions. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.

The candidate will be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatrics) certified/ eligible, or equivalent and eligible for medical license in Ontario.
