A few words about Sandvik
Sandvik is a high-tech and global engineering group with approximately 41,000 employees and operations in more than 170 countries – continuously growing into new markets. We have a strong legacy formed by our roots in industrial steel innovations, and with expertise and imagination, we develop pioneering solutions to bring manufacturing and mining into the next era!

Your mission
As the EVP and General Counsel for Sandvik, you lead and coordinate all legal, compliance, risk management and governance processes for the whole of Sandvik Group. Through proactive risk management, clear and simple governance, you balance risk to enable the Sandvik business in a decentralized and global business. The Risk Management function includes Sandvik’s captive insurance company and the global Enterprise Risk Management process. Governance includes the Group’s corporate governance framework “The Sandvik Way” as well as the ownership of the Code of Conduct and the Sandvik whistleblower-system, SpeakUp. The Compliance function owns the four, groupwide compliance programs of ABC, Competition, Trade and Export Controls (Third party management) and data privacy.

Together with the global Legal team, you also play a crucial role in supporting the business in the new and changeable landscape of current and upcoming laws, regulations and their implications, including EU-legislation related to AI. You work with focus on increased digitalization of the functions, and very closely also with CSRD and M&A-related matters.

You lead, motivate and develop senior teams at Group level including the Legal, Compliance, Risk Management and Governance functions, as well as Business Area level resources through Business Area General Counsels and their compliance organizations (dotted-line). You are also the secretary of the Board of Directors and three Board Committees, supporting an efficient Board and Committee process.  This means working closely with the Chairman of the Board, the Chairman of the Audit Committee and rest of the Board of Directors to ensure compliance with law and stock market regulations. You also manage the Shareholders’ Meetings and the Nomination Committee.

This position is based in Stockholm and requires travelling. You report to the President and CEO of Sandvik Group and are a key member of the Group Executive Management team, where you contribute widely across all topics as a true business partner.

Your profile
Requirements include a proven track record in General Counsel or equivalent Senior Legal leadership roles within large multinational corporations. You have a proven ability to navigate in complex regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions. Your background includes broad experience of legal, compliance, risk management and corporate governance – including very good understanding of Swedish/Nordic corporate governance and Board work in a listed environment. As an experienced contributor in management team settings, you have a strong focus on business partnering and enablement in balance with appropriate risk management. You’re a solid leader who successfully builds and leads highly motivated and performing teams in a global context.

You possess the highest possible integrity and ethical standards, are very structured with high attention to detail, while still being a pragmatic decision-maker. You’re solid and mature in your role, and have a strong ability to navigate complex and changing settings. You are excellent at stakeholder management and collaboration, and a strong business focus and acumen is essential.

Highly meriting factors include experience from the manufacturing and/or mining industries, a good understanding of a decentralized business model and experience from business exposure to high-risk geographies. A good understanding of the Swedish language is also meriting.
