EEAST is made up of exceptional people delivering outstanding care, every hour of every day. Whether it’s on the frontline or behind the scenes, no two days are ever the same and every role helps save lives.
A rewarding and fast-paced environment
Working at EEAST gives you the chance to support your community, provide life-saving care and help people through their darkest moments. It’s a busy, dynamic environment that brings fresh challenges every day.
Working in the east of England
Our Trust provides emergency and non-emergency care to patients in the east of England covering the six counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
You get to work in one of the most diverse areas of the country; the bustling capital city is on our doorstep and the bracing North Sea envelopes our shores to the east.
We've got historical cathedral towns and cities, brand new communities, rural broadlands and some of the busiest arteries of road and rail networks, including the M25, A14, M1, M11 and A12, and railway lines from London Liverpool Street out to Cambridge, Norwich, Peterborough, Colchester and Southend.
Wherever you go in the east of England there is always something to see and do; but if travelling around the UK and beyond is a must for you as well, the Luton, Stansted, Norwich and Southend airports couldn't make it more easier to stay in touch with loved ones or send you on a deserved holiday or short break.

Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in joining the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST). I am delighted that you are considering the opportunity to join us at this important time in our journey, with the role of Director of Governance being vital to our future direction and success.
Operating across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, EEAST serves a diverse and growing population of approximately 6.2 million. Our dedicated team of over 5,000 staff and 1,200 volunteers work around the clock to deliver high-quality, compassionate care. We have a clear set of missions aligned to Patient, People, Partnership, and Productivity to fulfil Our Purpose to care for our patients, our communities, and each other—making every minute count to save lives and improve patient outcomes.
To realise this vision, we are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and values-driven governance leader to join our executive team. The Director of Governance will lead the development of robust and mature governance frameworks that support sound decision-making, effective risk management, and meaningful assurance across the Trust. This role is essential in enabling us to grow in maturity as a Board and as an organisation.
We are looking for someone who can bring both technical credibility and strategic perspective—someone who can move beyond process and compliance to embed a culture of transparency, accountability, and high performance. You will work closely with the Chair and Chief Executive, helping to shape how our Board functions and how governance supports and reflects our wider ambitions.
Our priorities include:
Strengthening the maturity and effectiveness of governance structures and relationships
Embedding a proactive, strategic approach to risk and assurance
Supporting the development of our Board and executive leadership
Ensuring regulatory compliance and high standards of corporate accountability
Developing people and building a high-performing governance and executive support function
This is a rare opportunity to make a significant contribution to a critical public service at a pivotal moment. We welcome applications from individuals with senior experience in corporate governance in complex organisations, particularly those who share our values and commitment to improvement, transparency, and inclusion.
I look forward to meeting you and hearing how you can help us shape our future through outstanding governance and leadership.
Yours sincerely
Neill Moloney
