The Dean provides strong academic leadership to further develop and grow the excellence of the Sub-Faculty’s education and research programs, and is ultimately responsible for the performance and culture of the Sub-Faculty. Providing academic, strategic and operational leadership, the Dean ensures outstanding learning and teaching, research, and engagement outcomes.

The Dean takes a leading role in government, industry, philanthropy and broad community engagement nationally and internationally to grow the Sub-Faculty programs and investment in education and research programs. The Dean will foster and expand existing partnerships within The Alfred Precinct and with Peninsula Health and Cabrini Health, and develop new academic partnerships nationally and internationally.

The Dean fosters a culture of excellence, performance and engagement, with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, and inspires and motivates the Sub-Faculty to deliver a distinctly Monash student experience. Collaborating across faculties and campuses where appropriate, the Dean champions an interdisciplinary approach and takes a lead role in cultivating partnerships to promote a strong and positive Sub-Faculty profile, and outcomes for students.

The Dean will also serve as Director of Research at Alfred Health.

Director of Research

Alfred Health provides the most comprehensive range of healthcare services in Victoria through a combination of hospital campuses, community programs and state-wide services. This concurrent appointment is contingent upon the incumbent’s appointment as Dean, Sub-Faculty of Translational Medicine and Public Health at Monash University.

The Director of Research at Alfred Health is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the strategic direction and governance of research at Alfred Health.
