Safera was a company that had developed and manufactured stove guards. The company was founded and led by the inventors of the product and the technology behind it. At a stage where the technology was mature enough, a private equity investors backed the company with the goal of international growth.
To guarantee the growth, Safera needed a commercial mindset and experience to support the founders unparallel technical superiority. The owners of Safera approached Alumni Harvey Nash to find a new commercial CEO.
Solution
Alumni Harvey Nash analysed the business situation thoroughly and with the owners, evaluated the required competencies of the future CEO. In addition to the pure skills and experiences, Alumni Harvey Nash emphasized the personal chrematistics to guarantee a buy-in from the organization. The needed changes were not necessarily big but the founders had to be on board with the road ahead. Alumni Harvey Nash facilitated an open and transparent process with the owners of Safera to provide them with the competencies they wanted and needed.

In the end, Safera got a new commercial CEO who has managed to commercialize and internationalize Safera’s products.
With the new CEO, the company changed it’s direction towards IoT & Smart Home market making its products integral parts in the biggest Smart Home ecosystems (Apple, Google, Amazon) available through their proprietary iOS and Android application. The product was positioned as a Smart Kitchen Sensor instead of the traditional Stove Guard and the repositioning allowed for a bigger international interest.
