About the Director of Medical Services

The Director of Medical Services (DMS) will work with the facility Director of Nursing to support functional operational performance across the facility. The DMS will work closely with the facility Director of Nursing ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable care aligned with the organisation’s strategic priorities.

Reporting initially to the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) Chief Medical Officer, the DMS will work in close collaboration with the Clinical Divisional Executive General Managers and the broader Gold Coast Health Executive Leadership team. Once the site-based leadership has been established, the DMS will report operationally to the allocated General Manager and professionally to the Chief Medical Officer.

The DMS will hold delegated authority to coordinate across Divisions to support day to day operational performance and manage access and patient flow issues.

The role will provide a point of facility escalation for cross-divisional patient access and flow issues and be responsible for coordinating the escalation of unresolved front-line issues.
